Broadcom Teaming not working
The system config:
Dell 2650 dual Broadcom 1 Gig Nic
Nic Driver - 6.64.0.0 dated 5/21/2003
Virtual Driver 6.0.1.0 dated 2/5/2003
I have the 2 NICs teamed and configed for failover, but it is not working. To test the failover I run a ping and then unplug cable 1 (NIC2). The ping stops. I plug it back in and things work again. I unplug cable 2 (NIC1) and nothing happens. It seems that the failover is not working, what am I missing?
Thanks

Did you hard code the IP Address for the team in network properties?

Chris
Well, many things can cause this. As you did not include the switch information (topology); I will gamble a guess. (None of these may be your issue)
1. STP. Your links are up on both ports. You pull cable "1". The Intermediate driver sees link drop from LOM "1"; so it fails over to LOM"2". (All good at this point) You place the cable "1" back in; and the Intermediate driver sees the link come back and fails back; BUT the port is blocked by STP. Ping fails until the port goes back to fowarding.
2. Cabling errors: You may be connected to 2 seperate switches without a interlink between the two. Broadcom SLB and SLB + failover are required to be connected to the same switch; or switches at appear to be one (Same Vlan)
3. Driver: The intermediate driver cannot deal properly with applications that ask for data; and nevr come back for it. The data sits in the recieve buffer and finally fills it up. A new release package has a set of revised drivers to correct this. (6.9)
There is a new white paper on Dell's site covering all of this..
Hope this helps

Where is the white paper located or what is teh name of the white paper. I have been unable to locate it. Better yet, csan you post a link.
I am having a problem with teaming. I get no network connectivity after teaming a set of Broadcom 5708 NICs. I've updated the drivers and the BACS software.
Thanks.
