Changing rack mount PE T610 to tower?
I have a rack mount PE T610 server that was supposed to have been a tower.
Dell tells me it is impossible to add feet and top panel to the server, that I have to send it back.
I have many hours invested in configuring this server and it is currently deployed. I really don't want to lose all this time.
Has anyone in the community ever switched a server from rack to tower?
The intructions for the tower-to-rack conversion seem to suggest it is a matter of adding 4 feet and a top panel.
Not sure why the parts are not available.

If I'm not mistaken, they don't actually make (package, market, sell) the rack-to-tower kits ... only the tower-to-rack kits. So, Dell wouldn't have a "kit" or set of parts to send you to do it yourself, thus, Dell does not have a way to fix it other than returning it. I have managed to find "kits" - or rather just the leftover parts from a tower-to-rack conversion - from people selling those now unused parts on eBay. However, this may be difficult with such a new model.
What I might suggest you do is order a tower with the same configuration, when you receive it, take the drives from the rack and put them in the tower. Then, you can return the rack system. This will reduce your downtime to a couple of minutes and let you keep the time you invested in its configuration and setup.

Yeah, they have made it quite clear that there is no "rack-to-tower" conversion kit.
What I don't quite understand is why I can't even order 4 feet or casters. I don't care so much about the top panel.
Looking at the diagram in the T610 tower-to-rack conversion kit, it looks pretty obvious that the feet just screw into the bottom.
Looks like the holes are about 2.75 inches in from each end.
