CPU compatibility on PowerEdge C1100

Question

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my PowerEdge C1100 server (CS24-TY) from a Xeon L5520 to an E5645. Dell's webpage says it is compatible with 5500/5600 series Xeons, but is there anything I need to do before upgrading, like a BIOS upgrade, or is it incompatible with the server?

Hi @arctis8,   I found DPN# 01M26 to be compatible with C1100. Hence, E5645 should be compatible.    It's advisable to update all the server's firmware before you replace the processor.
