DELL PE T430: HDD boot sequence keeps changing

Hi,

I remotely manage a DELL PE T430 that runs Esxi 6.5. In the BIOS boot settings > Hdd sequence,  normally the Internal SD:IDSDM is first in line, followed by "RAID Controller". From time to time -  and is a recent development, the sequence changes by itself such that the "RAID Controller" gets listed first, and the Internal SD:IDSDM ends up as second. Times when the server fails to come up, after a reboot for one reason or the other, I have found the Hdd boot sequence in the BIOS changed! However, many thanks to iDRAC, I mostly managed to remote in and fix it.

Anyone come across such behavior ?  How did you solve ?

Thanks,
Denis

Hi,

Is the BIOS up to date? If you disable the other options in the boot sequence will it stay on the proper one?

Hi, Sorry for the long delay in my getting back. I should probably check on the BIOS version status, and upgrade if necessary when I am next at site. This is a box at a remote site and with no onsite tech, hence I only run potentially sensitive tweaks when I am physically there. I will definitely plan on this for my next visit. As regards disabling the other boot options - I have not tried that. I will do this in the meantime, and wait to see if the issue crops up again. Many thanks, Denis
