Dell PowerEdge 1900 Server: no power boot anymore

Hi,

the system does not boot anymore when plugging in the power cable.

* System: ubuntu 12.04 64 server

* BIOS v 1.1.0

* power cable unplug, wait 10 minutes, plug again: does not help

* error code on LED: 97 - cannot find this in the docs

* back LED shows blinking blue - no idea what that means

* History: after installing a fresh ubuntu 12.04 "shutdown -r" worked fine. After "shutdown -h" the system is in the above error and does not start any more.

Does anyone has an idea how to solve this issue?

Thanks!

Thanks Robert for your description. Finally I brought the system into operation.

To clarify: The problem was that the system did not start when the power cable was plugged in. This was due to a improper BIOS configuration. I changed the BIOS boot config and it worked.

Actually I am a bit confused due to the BIOS setup which seems to be necessary to achieve a boot on power plug.

Current working BIOS setup, boot options:

  • enabled: Hard drive C:
  • enabled: Embedded NIC
  • enabled: VirtualCDROM
  • enabled: Virtual FLOPPY
  • And the other opions disabled.

This works. So the system boots automatically when the power supply is plugged in.

When setting up

  • enabled: Hard drive C:
  • And the other opions disabled.

this does not work. No boot on power plug.
