Dell Poweredge 1950 Error E1311 Fan Mod 1C RPM: Fan Sensor

Hello I am getting this error E1311 Fan Mod 1C RPM: Fan Sensor for system board, failure event.

All the fans are running, but they're spinning at full constantly. Is this error because a sensor on the motherboard has gone out? I swapped some fans out with some spares I have but it made no difference. I assume the motherboard needs to be replaced at this point?

I ran the diagnostics, here is the error it is showing, there appears to be two:

Thank you for the service tag.

The 2900 errors indicate that there is an error about the device in the hardware log. You must clear the hardware log of all errors before running diagnostics. I suggest saving the log before clearing it. You can find more information about BMC and event log in the system manual and BMC manual:

I don't show that the 1950 has a separate fan control board that you can replace. It appears that the fans connect directly to the system board. Without a FCB the only two hardware components involved in fan functionality are the system board and fan modules. The BMC controls the fans and reports fan errors. The BMC is integrated into the system board. If you have replaced the system board and fan then all hardware has been replaced. If the error keeps returning after clearing the hardware log then it is an active error.

If you have added any unsupported hardware to the server then I suggest removing that hardware to see if the error goes away. You will need to clear the hardware log after every change to see if the error is resolved. If the error persists then I would take the system to minimum-to-POST. Also, if you are running an unsupported configuration then the errors may be a result of that decision. For instance, if you have a redundant PSU configuration and have decided to remove a PSU from the system it will affect airflow and can produce errors.

The only thing I could think of is the unsupported hardware is with the fans themselves, a couple of them have a different blade design. I think 2 are actual dell oem ones and I am not sure about the others. They all do work though. Could this be the issue?

If the way to clear the event device log is by accessing ctrl + e and to clear it that way, then I did do that prior to running the diag. I was able to find another motherboard online so I ordered it. I did the swap today, figuring it was the obvious but that same Fan Mod 3C error is coming back. All the fans are spooling, and to max....not sure what the deal is here.

update:

new motherboard installed, same fans, all of them running, updated the bios firmware to 2.7.0, and ran the diag again. Same errors as before.

I can't read the PPIDs very well. The two part numbers for the fans and fan assemblies are:

MC545
TC146

On that 25 digit PPID the first two characters are the country code, then there is a 0, and then the next 5 digits are the part number. If the part numbers on all of your fans are the ones I listed then they should be compatible.

Thanks

Uploaded better pics.

The fans look like they are all supported.

Not sure where to go from here. The high speed fan setting constantly is unbearable.
