Dell PowerEdge 860

Good Afternoon, Everyone. I just now joined in with the Dell Community. I wanted to introduce myself, and say Hello. I have (2) Dell 3100's and a Dell E510.I have always enjoyed "Older" Dell systems. I recently bought a Dell PowerEdge 860. I am not very familiar with this unit? I have always had mid-range consumer-end computers. I bought a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go Pro USB Audio System w/ THX SB 1290 external sound.(Which actually works quite well.) I was hoping someone could suggest a DVD Writer for this unit, and possibly a Graphics Card(Just good enough to play Chess Titans.) Also, I would like some suggestions as how to upgrade as well. I plan to run 8GB's of R.A.M. at some point in time. Thanks to all. Herschel.

Hello Herschel

Unfortunately we have not validated any audio or video cards to work in the 860 so I am unable to provide suggestions. Regarding the memory, you can install 4x2GB DIMMs for a total of 8GB. You have an 800MHz FSB CPU, so the memory speed max is 533MHz. This is the 2GB DIMM that is compatible for your configuration:

F6806

Adding audio and video cards to our servers is a process of trial and error. If no one responds with items they have tested to function then i would suggest searching online for anyone that has tried adding audio/video cards to the 860.

Thanks
