Dell PowerEdge C6100-IPMI Problem - Ram Problem
Hello everyone,
Firstly, sorry for starting a discussion on this as i know there are some out here and i read most of them, however they are mostly incomplete and too old to necomance them.
On with the problem now,
I have a Dell C6100 Poweredge and i have 2 problems at this time.(This server is not yet in live production)
Problem 1:
On One of the Nodes I have 12x8GB Ram(Hynix HMT31GR7BFG4A-H9 T7, it used to see them al, but now all of a sudden i get only 80GB of ram(10 rams are recognised)
Tries:
I tried all of them individually and on all slots and they work.
I tried adding 12x4GB RAMs and it sees them all.
I tried the rams On another Node and the problem Persists.
I Tried to download Dell Support LIVE USB but it shows Unsupported Hardware when it boots to LINUX and i cannot get serious access to any Tool.
Also tried Running memtest from sametool and On DMI Info i get 6 lines of CPU) mapped to full address Space(00.....00-000....fff)
and 2 lines of CPU1 mapped to: No Mapping (Interleaved Device)
and then 4 lines of CPU1 mapped to full address Space(00.....00-000....fff)
Any help would be appreciated, sorry if i need to provide more information, please tell me and i will do so, i am kind of new in Servers so i dont know whats needed exactly and whats baseline.
Problem 2:
It seems that my saved IPMI Pass doesnt work, i dont know in what context has this happened, i am 99% sure the Pass i try is correct.
Tries:
Reset Bios.(All the ways, Jumper, battery, etc)
Install Live CD And run Some IPMI Commands i found but i did not manage to get any response as i did not know how to syntax them correctly or Access the IPMI From LIVE USB in general.
If you could point me on where to go for a step by step tutorial on how to reset the Password.
Thank you for reading, and sorry if i am in the wrong side of the forum rules, please inform me and i will take the necessary actions.

Problem 2-Ipmi has been solved. i know this is probably implicated to being common knowledge but i will post how i solved it for future reference.
Solution:Install any Linux Distro and work your way through this site.
https://vswitchzero.com/ipmitool-vib/
For future Reference i have also uploaded the site to Internet archive in case time passes.

Hello,
Is the Hynix HMT31GR7BFG4A-H9 T7 memory Dell branded?
I don't have a reference to manufacture part number in our database.
Could you post image of DIMM showing the part number?
You have don’t a lot of good troubleshooting. I add a few more.
Try clearing the CMOS:
Page 140 https://dell.to/3PHZ97Q
BIOS Clear CMOS - put jumper on D, boot up to clear, shut down and return jumper to default
Page 40 check memory configuration:
Memory Frequency (Auto default)
Memory Mode (Independent default)
NUMA Support (Enabled default)
Also check Page 121 for more Memory troubleshooting steps.

First of all, thank you for answering.
Yeah sorry my mind was not on the correct place.
Let me post one of them, i dont think it is, i understand you cannot provide much support for something thats out of Dell Branding, could you maybe suggest a module?
I tried to find a QVL or something but failed.

On the troubleshooting part.
This is where sorry was going.
I have already cleared the CMOS as first step through the Jumper.
Retried now as well..
Memory freq-Auto
Memory Mode(I dont have any other option than Indepedent, is there supposed to be anything else there?)
Numa support was enabled, tried changing it but i didnt work.
I have made some progress i should say here, after trying a little more interchanging them i have managed to get to 90GB ram, so it seems to be dependent on the position although they are all the same model. is this something possible, is it an indication to go to a Supported module or is it sign of defective board?

Hello,
I don't have much steps to do for troubleshooting other that my colleague told you.
If memory are not Dell branded we are limited in terms of support actually.
Thanks

but I suggest you follow up with pre-sales support

Hello,
I see a typo on the part number you posted doesn't match the sticker:
HMT31GR7BFG4A-H9 <your posted part number
HMT31GR7BFR4A-H9 < is correct part number from sticker
These 2 DIMMs are the same thing as these Dell DIMMs.
Part#:
P9RN2
DIMM,8GB,1333,2RX4,8,240,R,LV
Memory, 8GB
Memory, 8GB
8GB, DIMM, 1333MHZ, 1Gx72, Registered, DDR3, 240 Pin, Dual Rank, 1.35V, Error Correction Code, Low Voltage
TJ1DY
DIMM,8G,1333,2RX4,8,240,R,LV
Memory, 8GB
Memory, 8GB
8GB, DIMM, 1333MHZ, 1Gx72, Registered, DDR3, 240 Pin, Dual Rank, 1.35V, Error Correction Code, Low Voltage
Try your DIMMs in a valid configuration:
Memory DIMMs should be configured as 1, 4 , 6 and 12
Test them in batch of 6 using correct population from the image.
If they all work, swap them out for the remaining 6 DIMMS and check results.
If they all work then try all 12 together

@DELL-Marco B
Thank you will check out if i can find something on this Part no.
@DELL-Charles R
Yeah sorry i just noticed my mistake. Thank you for checking it out. I did what you said and managed to pinpoint a ram modul malfunctioning, first it responded only to 1 of the 2 6-batches, then i put it alone in the correct Ram seat and it failed. i will try to replace them all with one of the mentioned part numbers and will come back to close this. thank you. Could you explain what you meant here?

Hello,
I was stating that the DIMM HMT31GR7BFR4A-H9 you have is the same as these two Dell part numbers: #P9RN2, #TJ1DY
