Dell PowerEdge R730 install RTX3060 GPU failed

Question

I hava bought RTX3060 and RTX3080ti GPUs, and Dell PowerEdge R730 and R740 Servers. I install RTX3060 GPU on PCIE 16x SLOT3 follow the server documents. The GPU can not be found. I input the command "lspci | grep -i nvidia", nothing can be found.

My question is that can RTX3060 or RTX3080ti install and PowerEdge R730 /R470?

what is the season I can not install sucessfully? how to install The baove two GPUs.

Hi,

Unfortunately Client graphic cards does not go with servers.

Internal GPU cards are supported on the PowerEdge R730 and not on the PowerEdge R730xd.

If you're looking to put a GPU card in a server for hardware acceleration, do not use a GTX. They are not supported by Dell. Use one of the Quadro line.

Are you using the GPU for video output or for passthrough to a VM?

For video output, you need to go into bios and disable the integrated/ embeded video controller.

For hardware passthrough, make sure you are NOT using the gpu for video out or it wont be available for your hypervisor

I have a GTX680 in one of my R730xd and it runs fine. It does NOT show up in bios or lifecycle controller though, but works fine.

You do have to tweak the cooling profile with ipmi commands to make it not lock the fans at 100%

Thanks for your reply.

I use gpu for Calculating the task nor for video out . My problem is that when I install the card and connect the power wire,then restart the server, I can not found the card from PIC(using the command ''lspci | grep -i nvidia'). Would you have the experience and solution to help me?

I deliver the power by expansion card riser.

Because the lspci | grep -i nvidia doesnt shows nothing indicated that the card doesnt come alive when the Host is startet.
I remember a BIOS settings about mem allocation. There is a Dell KB about the issue. I will take a look to my documention .... we use certified Nvidia GRID Cards.
