Dell PowerEdge R730 Maximum Ram Speed Support

Hello,

I bought RAM 16GB 2933mhz to upgrade my server R730 but when I recheck its RAM, the speed of this ram was only 2133mhz.

May I know if the RAM I bought(2933mhz) can upgrade my R730 server?

Shiva-168,

I can't say if it will work or not, I can say that It isn't a supported dimm, as I don't see anything available that exceeds 2666MHz for the R730. So it would be based on trial and error if it functions or not.

Also, if you let me know the part number of the dimm, i can verify if it is or not.

Let me know if this helps

The manual only lists up to 2400 speed

Do note that if you are using a E5-v4 family cpu that (in my experience with the R730xd) the ram configurations are a lot more limited than with a E5-v3
