Dell PowerPath
Hey,
I'm interested to see what others do with their rack servers and external storage in terms of managing load balancing config and policies, and stats/perf monitoring etc.? Dell seem reluctant to discuss PowerPath with us but it seems a bit crazy to me to do all config stuff manually on loads of servers and have no in depth data/stats. They claim PowerPath is really for "massive" environments.
I've been used to these toolsets from other vendors.
When I look at the PowerPath homepage, it's key points seem like everyone should want as standard:
- Optimize I/O paths in physical and virtual environments.
- Dynamically rebalance your application environment for peak performance.
- Increase Performance and scalability in physical and virtual environment.
- Define failover and recovery rules in the event of component failures or user errors.
Then their "Top 10 reasons to deploy Dell PowerPath" just hammers this home even more. To me anyway.
Thanks

PS: How is it licensed (if at all)? Some other vendors bundle in their equivalent with their servers/storage. I can only assume PowerPath has a cost which is why Dell are reluctant.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.
This is best addressed by Sales https://dell.to/3xlbCqJ.
From my knowledge, some entry level storage models are subjected to free PowerPath, but the features are limited.

@DELL-Young E
Thanks for the response. As I say, our Sales rep seems unkeen to discuss it since "it's designed for massive infrastructure".
I was more looking to learn what others are doing with their Servers/Storage connectivity configuration, optimisation and monitoring. E.g. if it really is only "massive infrastructures" that use PowerPath.
