Dell R470 DMI Information (Manufactuer/Make/Model) Missing from iDRAC10, OS 'dmidecode'
All:
What to do if the DMI make & manufacturing information is unavailable in both the iDRAC10 and OS (Tried GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, and Windows Server 2022) ?
I have already tried:
- Cold boot (Power cut to the PSU)
- Upgrade to latest iDRAC10 firmware
- Re-install the latest BIOS (v1.3.2 is latest on R470)
Is this a known defect/bug/issue on this relatively new platform?

Hello,
Lifecycle Controller limits the menu to “OS Deployment” when it detects incomplete initialization or missing inventory/OS data. This is expected logic to guide first-time setup. Once iDRAC/LCC finish initializing correctly, the full menu ) becomes available.
Thanks

Marco:
In the end, this was all intentional. The chassis R470 was ordered as part of the Dell OEM program, and hardware sold under this program comes without any Dell Branding on the iDRAC firmware, the BIOS, even the Faceplate cover on the bezel is blank.
DMI information may be written to the motherboard in a one-time process, or, if you ask Dell support, they'll give you a file to write the generic Dell branding back.
