Dell R630 not loading lifecycle controller
Hi,
I am struggling with updating my Dell R630. I actaully just want to install Windows Server 2016 on the machine. I am not able to update BIOS FW, iDRAC FW or Lifecycle Controller. When booting into Lifecycle, the following error comes up:
I did reset BIOS (via Jumper) and iDRAC. Access to iDRAC interface is possible. Other specs:
BIOS-Version: 1.2.10
Firmware-Version: 2.02.01.01
Lifecycle-Controller-Firmware: 2.02.01.01
IDSDM-Firmwareversion: 0.15
No Events found!

Do you mean executing in iDRAC?

Can you try flashing the firmware using firmimg image. from below link you can download "iDRAC_2.80.80.80_A00.exe" which is a self extractable file. Once extracted you will get firming file.

I've already tried this ending up with other errors (I tried several FW-Versions):

That is great to see. Sometimes it can cause issue to make that big of a jump, but if it took then you should be good.

Can you reboot and check whether the Lifecycle controller issue is gone. If yes you can use iDRAC only to update BIOS. For BIOS you can directly upload windows update package (BIOS_9FG85_WN64_2.12.1_01.EXE). payload update is only supported for iDRAC.

Hello anyAdmin,
Shine K has you covered pretty well. Thank you Shine.
For the rest of the firmware updates you can use the windows exe in the DRAC to update.
Your BIOS is pretty far behind. I'd recommend to step it up:
Starting point: Bios 1.2.10
2.4.3 - https://dell.to/3tJrfka
2.7.1 - https://dell.to/3tHmcAE
2.12.1 - https://dell.to/3uHA7s0
Please let me know how it goes.
