Dell T630 IDRAC update woes
Hi to all just joined and I am hoping someone can enlighten me. I have bought a Dell T630 and have been attempting to follow the update route for all system firmware. Current status is BIOS version 2.8.0, Lifecycle Controller 2.60.60.60 PERC H730P 25.5.8.0001. Attempted to use the IDRAC Lifecycle Controller to connect to \downloads\dell.com the IDRAC responded with error 'Unable to connect to the network share (SWC0066)'.
Did some research and discovered that I needed the following downloads. iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_KRCXX_WN64_2.75.75.75_A00.d7.exe & iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_DDK5R_WN64_2.83.83.83_A00.d7.exe which I downloaded and attempted to update using the earliest version first. That failed apparently older T630 cannot work with the .exe file supplied by Dell. The solution according to ChatGPT was to extract the .d7 file from the .exe wrapper and upload that via a USB stick, which failed on a USB inserted in to USB0 ((Front USB1) USB appears to be scanned and then error message Incorrect Repository Path Location (SUP0530). I am pulling my hair out with this machine trying to get it updated.
Thanks Kevin

Hello Kevin, thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community!
SWC0066 may be pointing out firewall issue. Would you be able to check that on your end first and let us know?
Respectfully,

@DELL-Young E Hi and thank you for the response. The T630 is as far as a know a bare bones server, no O/S and with the update file being on a USB stick in USB0 ((Front USB1) I can't see where a firewall would come in to it ? I would happily check if there was a firewall running or other protection enabled to prevent updates from USB0 ((Front USB1) if I knew where to look.

Hi,
.d7file is in the root..d7file directly via the iDRAC web interface if USB fails. If you're still stuck, let us know the exact error message or behavior, and we can dig deeper.

Tried the following USB Ports
USB 0 (Front USB1)
USB 0 (Front USB2)
USB 0 (Back USB1)
USB 0 (Back USB2)
File Path or Update Package Path is left blank
USB is Fat32 format only has the iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_KRCXX_WN64_2.75.75.75_A00.d7 file saved and nothing else, no directories/folders etc.
Error Incorrect Repository path location (SUP0530)
Also tried
HTTP Server to downloads.dell.com
Gets as far as downloading the catalog
Error Unable to connect to the network share (SWC0066)
So as it stands there is no way to update the iDRAC or BIOS via a USB or iDRAC web interface.

Hi Kevin,
I would be ensure the
.d7file is in the root of the USB stick, formatted as FAT32, and the filename is unchanged. If the still same then I would Log in to iDRAC → Maintenance → System Update → Local File. Upload the.d7file directly. This bypasses USB path issues. At firs I would update 2.75 then 2.83 to avoid jumping straight to the latest version.
