Determining hardware and setup on POweredge server

Question

Hi,

I have recently taken over at a site with numerous Dell Poweredge servers. There is no documentation on them and OpenManage does not seem to be installed.

What is the easiest way for me to determine the hardware setup (RAM installed number of disks and how they are configured etc).

Goto belarc and install belarc advisor

http://www.belarc.com

Do the free download.

Then make up a list of the service tags from the belarc files.

Then take those sheets to support.dell.com and check out the original system configuratino from each service tag.

Thanks, I have the tags and have seen the original spec...but...I suspect there has been changes to the configs (new hardware etc). Is there anyway to install openManage or something like that?

you can download and install dell open manage server administrator.  the software is pretty cool and tells you everything about the servers including how fast the fans are spinning.
