Do I need M1000e?
If I buy a blade server (M600), do I have to buy the blade enclosure (M1000e)? From the pictures it looks like there is no casing around the M600 but is that just to show it off, or does it really come w/ the guts out in the open (and thus needing the M1000e to protect it from dust, etc.)?
thx

Yes, you need a chassis. The blade is a complete server but it doesn't have a psu or inputs and outputs. The chassis supplies the power and the physical inputs and outputs and methods of remote management.
If you require a single server then a tower or rack server will be a better option but if you need a whole load of servers then blades give you a way of fitting more servers in a rack. ie similar rack mounted servers will take up a third more rack space, require more cabling and infrastructure and probably produce more heat.
