Driver version confusing
Hi all,
We are currently updating our Windows drivers on Dell machines and I was wondering if there is a difference between the new driver Chipset_Driver_JTN83_WN64_10.1.2.85_A08_01.EXE and the old driver Chipset_Driver_JTN83_WN64_10.1.2.85_A08.EXE we installed last time?
If not, why is there a 01 added and releasedate changed? If yes, what has been changed and do we need to install it? (upgrade)
Thanks,
WiM

Hello
I'm not aware of any changes. If there were changes to the bundle then it would have received a new bundle number(JTN83). The driver may have been repackaged or re-promoted, but the driver within the package would remain the same.
If our management applications list the 01 update as newer then I would re-apply the update so that it does not list as out of date.
Thanks

Daniel,
We are using SCCM to install the Dell update packages. We are not using OME to install the drivers.
I don't understand why DELL is re-promoting the driver with a new version if nothing was changed? New drivers are causing major business impact, we need to reboot the servers after installation. It also generates a lot of unnecessary (if nothing changed...) work.
Thanks,
WiM
