Dell hasn't certified WinXP for any Dell Poweredge servers.

That being said, you can try the Win2003 drivers and see if they work. If not, you need to specify which model server, as you'll need to go to the NIC vendor's site (e.g. Intel or Broadcom).

There are no XP drivers for PowerEdge products.

If you are installing XP you must use the WIN2000 server drivers for the system.

Actually W2k3 and XP are almost identical.  The NIC drivers for W2k3 can be installed manually (not through the wizard) on XP.

I have a new PowerEdge 430SC where I'm trying to get Windows XP configured and network connected (Note: I realize this configuration is NOT supported by Dell).

I have an Onboard NIC...and idea what driver I should install to get my internet/network connection working?

Since I'm a newbie, the more details you provide the better...please.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
Julio

Is this the correct Network Driver to install?

Windows* 2000, XP, and Server 2003 Network Adapter Driver Set [PRO2KXP.EXE]

I located this driver on the Intel site:
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=62&DwnldID=4275&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems&lang=eng

Please advise if this is the correct driver for a PowerEdge 430SC with an OnBoard NIC.

Thanks for your help...much appreciated.

Through a chat session with Dell Support, I found out that my default Onboad integrated NIC on the PowerEdge 430SC is the:

Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet; you can download the driver here.

I have successfully installed the NIC driver and I'm now network connected...YEAH!!!

I installed all the Window Updates, however, after revieweing the "Device Manager", I noticed the following...

  "?" Other devices
       "?" SM Bus Controller
       "?" Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Any ideas on what I need to do to resolve these outages?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The Windows XP Professional installation is complete. YEAH!!!

To clear up the "SM Bus Controller" conflict, I installed the "Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility" from here

To clear up the "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" conflict, I installed the "XGI Volari Z7 Video Controller" driver from here

I hope this information helps others who are trying to install Windows XP on their PowerEdge 430SC servers (in my case I'm in a dual boot environment - with Windows Server 2003).

Good luck!
