E0119: Temp Backplane Top error

Hi,

I have a brand new PE 6650 with Win2000 Server, SP3, Dell System Management 3.2.  It is showing in the LCD status that there is a E0119 error:  Temp Backplane Top error.

It seems to be random too.  It goes from normal (blue) to fault (orange) randomly with this error.  It is now more often faulted than normal but it still flip-flops.

Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

These upgrades and patch will most likely resolve the error:

Dell Server System BIOS, PowerEdge 6650, A06
Filename: PE6650-BIOSA06.exe [481 KB] or PE6650-BIOSA06.zip [268 KB]

Dell ESM Firmware, PowerEdge 6600, 6650, A17
Filename: a17cust.exe [224 KB] or PE6600-ESMA17.zip [195 KB]

Can anyone give some idea what this Orange "Temp Backplane Top" actually indicates?

Thanks

There are temperature sensors on the backplane which will give you these errors E0119.
By updating the system files, you will raise their thresholds which should get rid of the amber led and error.
If not, check in OpenManage Server Admin for any other issues. Fans, Power  etc
