I'm having issues with an 2850. It was first nagging about fan 1 and cmos batt, which are now solved, then it started nagging for Fan 7, and now it's E0212 Procc VTT Volt PG1 8V Volt PG 3 3V , E0000 overflow, check log.
As my 2003 64bit server cd doesn't want to boot on these machines, I'm trying to install now a linux cd version ( kubuntu 64bit server) on an external SCSI disk, on an adaptec 39160 low end raid adapter.
Does Dell has support programs for Linux, or will I be loosing those abilities ?
If installing windows, which would be the best version. All desktops, and other servers are already running linux, since support for win2000 died.

Several Linux distros are supported (and several others will work):
Red Hat Ent Linux 4
Red Hat Ent Linux 4.5
Red Hat Ent Linux 4.6
Red Hat Ent Linux 4.7
Red Hat Ent Linux 5
Red Hat Ent Linux 5.2
Suse Linux ES 10
Suse Linux ES 9
If you run Windows, you should be running Server 2008 R2.

While windows is easier to work with, I guess I stay with Linux.
What about that complaint about 0412, Fan7 ?
What about 0212, PG 3 3V, PG 1 8V ?
Third machine, same complaints. Swapped PSU's between 4 units, they all come on fine ?
But I guess, yes, I'm going to set up one with windows, to see you can do the same. And swap the disc around, to read all errors detailed.
Thx in advance
