error "Power Supply A/C Lost" when running Diagnostics Utility
Error Code 2900:0221
msg: : power supply: Power Supply A/C Lost
We have not installed anything on server yet.
This error message happens while we run the diagnostics program downloaded from Dell---"Dell 32 Bit Diagnostics Version 5026A0, Rev. A5026"
This server has dual power supplies.
We pluged the "Y" type power cord into both power supplies.
The LED lights on both power supplies are normally on.
The server's front panel LED lights are normally on as well. (no amber, no flashing)
Thanks a lot
jack

Hi, Jack.
What model PowerEdge system is it on which Diagnostics are being run? There are subtle differences between a 32-bit diagnostics utility for one PowerEdge model and the same type of utility for another model, which can result in erroneous messages such as this.

Thanks.
Version A5026 should be right on the money as far as what this system needs. To help identify whether or not this message is erroneous, I'd recommend also downloading and running Openmanage Server Administrator 1.6, which will directly report any such power-related errors detected by your system's embedded management firmware:
om36_win_managed_systemA00.exe
http://support.dell.com/filelib/download.aspx?FileID=90128
Does Server Administrator report any similar "A/C lost" messages?

Hi, Jack.
Yes, Server Administrator does run inside of Windows (we also have a version that will run inside Red Hat Linux). Since the system's ESM alert light is not blinking amber, and the power supplies currently show proper operation, I am highly inclined to believe that the AC message you are seeing is erroneous. An install of Windows (or your preferred operating system) should proceed without any issues, after which point you can install Server Administrator to verify whether or not the error appears outside of Diagnostics.
