There are two locations that you should check to find out what is happening. One is the hardware/system even log. In OpenManage you should be able to view this log, it is not the alert log. The other log is the Windows System Event Log.
You will want to review those two logs for anything that occurred prior to the reboot. If there is nothing in the hardware log then the operating system is locking up or blue screening. The default setting for WIndows will likely be to automatically restart when a lockup occurs. You can disable that option to allow you to see the error on the screen. If no errors are occurring in either of those logs then the likely cause is a blue screen in the OS that is not being logged prior to the restart.
Yes as I stated before there was nothing in the openmanage logs prior to the unexpected reboot and it showed nothing in the event viewer related to the reboot and there is not bluescreen or dumps
i have t300 that just rebooted with a event 6008. i cannot find any other msg in the windows event log to indicate an error. i logged into openmanage and it says:
Controller event log: Shutdown command received from host: Controller 0 (PERC 6/i Adapter)
then shows this as informational, not an error
Controller event log: Unexpected sense: Encl PD 20 Path 50022090aa814d00, CDB: 12 00 00 00 04 00, Sense: 6/29/00: Controller 0 (PERC 6/i Adapter). the battery re-learned and shows ok and everything is green now.
