Getting SMBIOS error while trying to create a DSET report

Question

I am trying to create a DSET report to send to Dell.  I am using a Poweredge 2300 server.  The server's warning light started blinking and I would like to find out the cause. When I run the DSET tool it starts with a message 'Creating a report from DSET 1.2' then I get the message 'ERROR: Could not obtain SMBIOS information from this system.      Local or domain administrator privilege is likely needed.       Cannot create a report therefore aborting. Press any key to continue . . .'   I am logged on the system as administrator so there should be no permissions problem. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh god, don't use the new verison. Try going back to 1.1.4. You can get that here: ftp://dropbox.us.dell.com/DSET/DSET-Windows/Archived%20Versions

I tried DSET 1.1.4 as you suggested, but am getting the same error message as above. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch

Make sure that you are installing with Windows installer 3.0 on your system

Hi, You don't mention what OS you are using. Is it Windows NT4, 2K or W2K3 ?

I'm using Windows 2000 Server with all the latest updates, etc.
