Graphics suddenly defaulted to primitive

Poweredge T310, 16 GB ram. I opened it to look at the RAM, wanted to get more RAM.  This is the first time it's ever been opened.  I pulled out one stick or ram, looked at it, and put it back.

After that,  the graphics suddenly are so primitive as to be unusable, something like 680X320.  I tried to install the Quick Test dell program to see if I needed to re-install the driver, that seemed to crash Windows Explorer.

I have rebooted and Windows Explorer working again, the main function of the server kept right on working fine, even with Windows Explorer crashed.

Not sure if I need a new graphics card or can install a driver.  When I right click on the screen and go to display properties, only have one choice, the super primitive version.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I will try to reset the DIMM tonight when it's possible to turn the server off.  All 16 gb are showing up in "system" though.  I have 16 gb more ram to install which will max it out at 32, will probably go ahead and install.

Regarding the screen resolution, it can't be reset, that's the problem, there is only one choice, 640X480.

There is no indication it's in safe mode, does Small business server Essentials 2011 not show "Safe Mode" all over the desktop like other versions of Windows?

I read somewhere else that if you boot up a T310 without a cat 5 cable in the network card this can happen.  Last time I booted it up I made sure both sockets had cables in them, no help.

I thing that somehow I jiggled or otherwise damaged the video card when I fiddled with the ram
