How To Replace PERC H710P mini Raid Card without losing Data?
Hello There,
There is a raid controller that fails on a Dell R620 Server. I want to replace it with a new one. But I don't want to lose the data and configuration on it.
How can I do this with simple steps?
I don't want to make mistakes as this is my first time.
Best Regards.

RAID configuration metadata is also stored in the physical disks. So you can power off the server and replace the controller and power on the server. All the configuration will be restored on the new controller when server come up. If all physical disks are shown as Foreign after controller replacement you need to import the foreign configuration to get the virtual disk back on new controller. I assume you are replacing with same H710P controller.
I will recommend to backup your data before carrying out any such maintenance tasks. There is remote possibility of unforeseen issues during this.

Hi, I hope this helps.

You will need Foreign Configuration import after the RAID replacement.
