Both on Firefox and Edge, this forum keeps giving me "Error access denied" when I try to post a question or even edit my question so as to give more details.
And God forbid I post a link because it then says that my action cannot be completed and I just can't go forward.
I've already set up the serial settings in the BIOS and so on and as I've said, I can see POST messages and the BIOS in putty, and I'm even given a short list of shortcuts about ctrl-alt-del before the server goes to POST, but I can't find any commands to pull up a recovery console at all! Why aren't these in the manual?
I tried to add the link to that site when I first created this post but kept getting errors.
Here is a link with screenshots, I am trying to do the same thing but am unable to, so, I guess that things are different for iDrac 7 since this guide is for DRAC 5.
That is correct, the console prompt you describe was done away with after the Drac, after the onset of the iDracs (6 on). The current process is laid out on page 72, which is essentially placing a copy of the firmimg.d7 file on the SD, then when the issue is detected it will recover the iDrac using that image.
If this website would actually work I would have been able to post the link about the SD card from the Dell manual as I tried that as well and it doesn't work.
Why is everyone ignoring my posts about errors on this website?
Also, I simply cannot fix iDrac on my R620, it all got bricked after I tried upgrading the LifeCycle Controller with iDrac to the latest version from whatever old version it was on.
I tried putting a fat formatted SD card in the sd card slot, but, despite iDrac not initializing at all because of error SWC0700 and the fact that it says that the LC controller is disabled, nothing works.
That recovery console should have never been removed from iDrac, as, had it still been there I could have used it to rescue this server.
Other than the SD Card, is there any other way to recover iDrac?
It still doesn't work. My LC is disabled and I can't re-enable it from BIOS as that option is grayed out and my iDrac version is 1.65.65.04 and won't initialize. Trying to flash anything from the OS fails because of a yellow warning next to the IPMI drive in device manager which I can't get rid of. The iDrac error is SWC0700 which is a config error, but, sadly, I can't restore iDrac to default settings or completely wipe it and reinstall it.

DanAnon,
The steps you will need to configure and to communicate with the iDrac via serial would be found on page 103-107 here. I would start there.
Let me know how if goes.

Would you please provide one of the screenshots you spoke about of the specific page/console you are trying to reach?
Thank you.

It was this link I tried it from: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/uk/en/ukbsdt1/integrated-dell-remote-access-cntrllr-7-v1.50.50/idrac7ug1.50.50-v1/recovering-idrac7?guid=guid-550439eb-49f0-43fa-9941-90a838937b97&lang=en-us

Just a tip, best to always link to HTML manual pages as the pdf ones are so big they just break while loading often times...

I've just tried it again and it does absolutely nothing, the server completely ignores the SD Card. The BIOS is up-to-date, version 2.7.0.
Thanks for leaving me without a way to recover my iDrac Dell!

Hi,
were you able to fix this?
I have the same issue on a R420 server.
Tried every possible solution on the internet.
I was trying to acess recovery console via serial connection but my BIOS (2.6.0) do not shoud External Serial Connector option .
Any ideias?
Would replaing de iDrac Port Card suffice to fix this?
Many thanks in advance
