Hello,
I'm sorry to see you have an iDRAC initialization error. I'll outline a few troubleshooting steps and in the order you can try:
*Check your firmware for iDRAC and BIOS, try to update if you are not current.
Support for PowerEdge T320 | Drivers & Downloads | Dell US
*Reset iDRAC - hold in the 'i' Button for 20 seconds, the DRAC should reboot, wait about 3 minutes. Check results.
*Drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power and NIC cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed) then reconnect power and NICs.
Check if it boots with no error?
*Clear NVRAM
-shut down. check the map under the lid and find the NVRAM jumper. Set it to the Clear position. Turn on server to the error about the jumper. Shut down and return jumper to default location.
You may have to reconfigure any custom BIOS settings like Boot order.
Check if it boots with no error?
*Reset DRAC - Boot to F2 > iDRAC Settings > Reset iDRAC configurations to defaults.
then Reconfigure DRAC -
Boot to F2 > iDRAC Settings > Network.
Configure IP, Subnet and Gateway.
Set connection being used i.e. LOM1, Dedicated
Check if it boots with no error?

Hi mrshahin,
Thank you for starting this discussion.
This error could be a Hardware error or a Firmware error.
For Firmware error:
I found this thread maybe this help you ,too.
https://www.dell.com/community/PowerEdge-Hardware-General/Initializing-iDrac/td-p/5080061
You could try to update your Idrac https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=0ghf4&oscode=ws8r2&productcode=poweredge-r720
If you have an old IDRAC Firmware (1.x.x) on your R720 than you find under Versions older Idrac Firmware packages and then you should update this in little steps.
Please try this and provide me Feedback
Kind regards Martin

Hi,
Thank for your reply, is it possible to disable the idrac? We are not using it so if there is way to disabling it to avoid this error would be nice!
Thanks

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
Which OMSA and idrac Version did you use?
Try to reset the iDRAC and see if it becomes responsive. On the R720 the easiest way to do this is to hold down the i button on the front of the server for more than 15 seconds, this will do a soft reboot of the iDRAC. If the iDRAC is still not responsive after you do this please power off the server and unplug it for about a minute, while it is unplugged hold the power button in for 10 seconds, this will drain any power from the system so that the iDRAC powers off fully. Once this is done reconnect power to the system and see if the iDRAC is accessible.
Regards Martin
