in-system characterisation and systemperfstatistics options missing

The useful commands InSystemCharacterization and systemperfstatistics are available on PowerEdge R630 servers:

/admin1-> racadm systemperfstatistics iDRAC.Embedded.1#SystemBoardCPUUsageStat

Minimum Readings
Last Hour = 0% [At Fri, 09 Jul 2021 15:18:50]
Last Day = 0% [At Sat, 15 May 2021 14:19:49]
Last Week = 0% [At Sat, 15 May 2021 14:19:49]

Maximum Readings
Last Hour = 12% [At Fri, 09 Jul 2021 14:45:11]
Last Day = 52% [At Fri, 09 Jul 2021 10:18:20]
Last Week = 52% [At Fri, 09 Jul 2021 10:18:20]

Average Readings
Last Hour = 0%
Last Day = 0%
Last Week = 0%

Peak Readings
Last Week = 52% [At Fri, 09 Jul 2021 10:18:20]

racadm get bios.MiscSettings
[Key=BIOS.Setup.1-1#MiscSettings]
AssetTag=
ErrPrompt=Enabled
ForceInt10=Disabled
InSystemCharacterization=Enabled
NumLock=On

however these commands don't work on R330s, R340s, R640s and R7425:

racadm>>get bios.MiscSettings

racadm get bios.MiscSettings
[Key=BIOS.Setup.1-1#MiscSettings]
AssetTag=
ErrPrompt=Enabled
ForceInt10=Disabled
NumLock=On

/admin1-> racadm systemperfstatistics iDRAC.Embedded.1#SystemBoardCPUUsageStat
ERROR: SWC0244 : Invalid Fully Qualified Device Descriptor (FQDD).

Is in-system characterisation enabled by default on these servers? How can I get cpu and system stats on these server models please? thanks

QngLaqsaW8VEQKAq,

In-System Characterization is in fact enabled by default, as seen on page 67 here

As far as the systemperfstatistics command, it should work as I have tested it here on a lab server and it runs, and is shown in the iDrac 9 guide on page 152 here.

Another command you can try is racadm getsysinfo

Let me know if this helps.

hi Chris

Many thanks for your message. I've got a few hundred R330s online here and all respond as follows via ssh:

/admin1-> racadm help systemperfstatistics
systemperfstatistics -- System Performance Monitoring Operations

Usage:

racadm systemperfstatistics
racadm systemperfstatistics view
racadm systemperfstatistics peakreset

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Valid Options:

: the fully qualified device descriptor of the target sensor
: the command. Must be one of:
view : displays the FQDDs of system performance
monitoring sensors
peakreset : resets the utilization peaks of system
performance monitoring sensors
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Usage Examples:

- To list the usage statistics of a specific sensor:
racadm systemperfstatistics iDRAC.Embedded.1#SystemBoardCPUUsageStat

- To list the fully qualified device descriptors of the monitoring sensors:
racadm systemperfstatistics view

- To reset the peak utilization of a specific sensor
racadm systemperfstatistics peakreset iDRAC.Embedded.1#SystemBoardCPUUsageStat

- For help on specific command type:
racadm systemperfstatistics help

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For help on viewing the properties of a group, run the command - racadm help get
For help on configuring the properties of a group, run the command - racadm help set

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

/admin1-> racadm systemperfstatistics iDRAC.Embedded.1#SystemBoardCPUUsageStat
ERROR: SWC0244 : Invalid Fully Qualified Device Descriptor (FQDD).
/admin1-> racadm systemperfstatistics view
ERROR: Unable to perform requested operation.
/admin1->

/admin1-> racadm get bios.miscsettings
[Key=BIOS.Setup.1-1#miscsettings]
AssetTag=
ErrPrompt=Enabled
ForceInt10=Disabled
NumLock=On
/admin1->

(isc status is missing)

The drac firmware is 2.80.80.80 and in almost all cases the bios is at 2.11.0

Unfortunately I don't think any have remaining warranty otherwise I'd open a support ticket

Any help appreciated, thanks

Nick

Hi Chris

With the R330s, R340s, R640s and R7425, there is no in-system characterisation option in the bios miscellaneous settings. If you reboot a test machine and press F2 you can verify this. Where has this feature gone? It's on the R630. If it is enabled by default, could you confirm the option to disable it has been removed? thanks

Hi might I interrupt, yes the best you can do is have your service tag handy and make a call to the phone tech support team, because you would most likely need to have your logs analyzed. Have a great one.

Hi,

The drac firmware version is 2.80.80.80 on all our R330s. The bios version is 2.11.0 on almost all of them.

systemperfstatistics via racadm doesn't work on any of them and the in-system characterisation option and status is missing in the bios miscellaneous settings on all of them.

Thanks

Nick

Hello,

if all is upgraded i think that this subcommand is not available on every Poweredge servers, but I cannot confirm because we don't have a support checklist for racadm, sorry.

As Young E suggested if server is in warranty you can open a ticket with our phone support.

Thanks
Marco
