Memory error on Poweredge SC420, after adding memory

Question

I purchased 2 GB of Crucial memroy of the same type in the machine 400MHz DDR2 ECC unbuffered   the server, or at least windows does recognize that the memory is correct 2.5GB   The server works fine for a few hours and then stops   upon reboot a message appears briefly on the screen about a memory error at   Any Ideas?

Did you buy 2 x 1GB or 1 x 2GB? If 2 x 1GB, try 1 at a time and see if you can eliminate one of the 2.

I purchased 2 x 1 GB modules from Crucial

I am away from the the site this week, the owner had to take the server to a local repair shop to have the modules removed the server is working again now.

The memory that came in the Dell server is DDR2 PC2 3200 400MHz ECC unbuffered, and that is what I purchased, however, when I use the wizard at crucial. com it says use the 533MHz PC2 4200.

I can do that this weekend...

Any other ideas???

I was reading about the Dell Diagnostics disk. Will this help pinpoint the issue??
