mirror hard drive

I have an old PowerEdge 2950 with a PERC 5/i.  It has two sets of hard drives.   The mirrored set was running out of space, so I swapped one of the 30GB with a 100GB let it mirror then did the other.   It worked.   Went to expand the drive to use the new space, Windows doesn't recognize the new drive space.   Rebooted and did a ctrl R and went into the PERC utility, it does not recognize that the new drives.   It thinks the mirror is still 30 GB.    How do I get the PERC utility to recognize the new drives so I can expand to the new space without rebuilding the OS?

You can't. The PERC 5/6 does not support expansion in this way - it supports expansion by adding drives to the array (2-disk RAID 1 to 3-disk RAID 5, 3-disk RAID 5 to x-disk RAID 5/6, etc.).

You may read about an operation called a retag, but don't do it. It is a recovery function and is NOT intended or designed to remap an array to a larger VD.

The only thing you can do now is create a new VD with the newly available space. This will be seen by Windows as a separate "disk". You could also backup, remove the small drives, put in the new ones and configure as a new RAID 1, then restore from backup.
