Multiple issues with Power Edge 4200.....

I received this poweredge 4200 with 8 (2 spare) seagate 9.1 HD's with Linux OS on it. I powered up the system through to Linux then shut it down to prep for install of MS Windows 2003. I tried the normal route to install and found that there were no HD's detected (prolly a scsi driver issue). Problem is, the first two HD's are now bleeping at me and there is an alarm light on them. I have several questions:

What do I need to do to get these HD's ready for install?

Do I need to update the firmware?

How can I reformat these HD's?

You probably have a PERC card. You must update the PERC firmware and the bios then install using the WIN2000 drivers for the PERC and press F6 and tell it to INSTALL THEM ANYWAY when it tells you that the drivers did not pay extortion fees to microsoft.

I just checked it out today and there is a Perc II card that I was messing with. I was able to get the HD's normalized in the sense that they are no longer beeping at me (rearranged them through PERC). I was reading some other posts alonf with your reply and it would appear that the Win 2000 ver of the PERC drivers is the way to go. Once I get that installed I should be able to install the Win 2003 server OS, correct? Thaks for the info.
