Need Help With Bricked iDRAC/Lifecycle Controller Following Failed Update

Hello,

I am currently attempting to deal with the widely-reported issue listed in the subject.  The server in question is a T320 with onboard iDRAC Express.  I have tried every remedy I have come across on this forum and the Internet at large, to no avail.

On boot, iDRAC configuration is not found, so fans are on full-blast all the time.
Lifecycle Controller reports as Disabled at POST
Changes to BIOS can not be saved (corrupt?)
BIOS updates fail from OS (both live CentOS CD and WinSrv 2012 R2)
The various Dell utilities I have attempted to remedy with have been unsuccessful.
Draining flea power and attempting to bring server up with minimum hardware to boot has not helped, either.
IPMI tools find that the IPMI interface has failed to initialize.

The main reason I think this is still salvageable, is that the LED on the mainboard is green instead of amber.  However, a coworker informed me that the mb may not even know it's broken to indicate an error.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!  This is a personal server (out-of-warranty so no dice there) and it would  to have to scrap it solely because the BMC is on the fritz.

Thank you,

JB

Hello

I'm not aware of any additional steps you can take If it is failing to initialize after taking the system to minimum-to-POST, clearing NVRAM, and draining flea power. The iDRAC is integrated into the system board, so you will need to replace the system board to replace the iDRAC.

Thanks

Woooow, what a great solution from an Enterprise engineer!

Be aware that this is equal to this: You have a new house and You tried to remake the kitchen but You have damaged it. You call an expert and he tells You "If You cannot make it the easy way then You have to buy a new house" !

Great solution, really.

Hi @spaxton,

Sorry to hear that you had issues with updating iDRAC firmware. You could have been contacting technical support for your issue, else you wouldn't have said ultimately to replace the motherboard. But, maybe I could help out on your issue, where the technical support missed out? If you do have an existing case, do PM me the case number, or the service tag of the server.

Let me know about your issue, I'll try my best to help out.

Hello Everyone.

I suggest reading my post at this link Re: swc0700 idrac is not ready. the configuration values cannot - Page 2 - Dell Community

I do not recommend upgrading dell equipment if You already have it and it works as it works. If You don't have it, I do not recommend it at all...

The scenario is worse than described.
Remember that whoever broke the kitchen was the same one who ordered the new house to be bought.
