No Boot Device Available - PCI Error
When I boot my 1950, I get the following errors telling me that the hdd can't be found:
Plug and Play Configuration Error
Subsystem: PCI Manager Error Type: PCI Initialization Error
Bus#02/Dev#0E/Func#0 :
SATA port A device not found
I've tried installing drivers and updating the BIOS. When I try to use the bootable Dell Management tool, it still tells me that it can't find the hdd and says to initialize the drives in the BIOS. The only option from within the tool is to reboot. When I try to add the drive in the BIOS, it says "SATA Port A ...... unknown device". Can anyone help me get my server to recognize the drive?

The hard disk almost certainly isn't on SATA port A - the SATA ports are only used for optical drives, I believe (though I think the use of SATA optical drives may still be in the future for these machines - my 2950 III has a parallel ATA optical drive). Certainly hot swap drives in the backplane aren't hooked up to the SATA ports.
Meanwhile, I suspect that the initialisation error is the SAS or PERC storage controller that does control the hard disk(s). Break and remake all the connections in the area of the storage controller - if that doesn't fix it, it's time to request an engineer call.
