NVMe - can do RAID 10 with S140 controller?

Regarding the R740XD and w/ S140 embedded controller, can you do a RAID 10 on your NVMe's ? Secondly, is there any issue/caveats having the Perc H740P for your SSDs, running in conjunction with your NVMe's using the S140 controller? (Using the mixed chassis, 12 SSD/12 NVMe) Thanks Jim

Hello

Yes, RAID 10 is supported on the S140 when using a supported Windows operating system. Boot and RAID level support may be limited when using Linux. You can find more information in the controller manuals and the system documentation.

Can you make your NVMe's bootable via the integrated S140 lifecycle interface, or , do you need a designated BOSS card in such a configuration?

Secondly, do all the 14th Gen PE servers come with the embedded S140, or, only those with dedicated NVMe chassis slots?

S140 with NVMe drives can be used as bootable as well. If needed BOSS card can be used (optional)

In S140 controller, configuration of RAID10 using NVMe is supported.

System can be configured by using H740P for SSDs and S140 by using NVMe drives. Restriction in this config in R740XD is first 12 drives (0-11) managed by H740P and second half of 12 drives (12-23) managed by S140 controller.

It depends on what backplane system has. Most of the servers configured with embedded S140 controller to support NVMe drives in NVMe based backplanes and SATA drives in SAS/SATA backplanes.
