PCI Parity Error Detected

Question

Our PowerEdge 600SC (BIOS A07, Windows 2000 Server SP4, 1 Gb memory etc, two months old) has taken to occasional crashes, usually during the night or at weekends which show up in log as 'PCI Parity Error Detected' -  no other useful info. The BIOS and the PERC SCSI controller stuff (v3.28) seem to be up to date. The only other PCI cards are a BroadCom modem (installed but not connected) and an extra Intel Pro Network card, both factory fitted. The server is connected to a BT ADSL line and local LAN through the two separate network cards. The server runs Lotus Domino Server 5.12 full time, and the crashes seem to occur while Veritas Backup Exec (8.5) is running. Zone Alarms Pro and McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 7 are also running all the time. Any known issues ? Any ideas of what to check for ? Thanks David Evans

I just received this error also - it killed the server and had to do a hard boot.

Is this an early sign of a PCI device death?

In our case, the server was still under warranty - Dell replace the memory, the network cards and the motherboard first, saying that the RAID adaptor was rarely at fault. Needless to say, since they finally replaced the RAID adaptor three months ago, no problems !   Don't know about the Bezel intrusion though.
