PE1950 E1000 E1227 Liner PwerGd Error
I have an older PE1950 which has error codes E1000 FAILSAFE and E1227 Liner PwerGd. I have taken all of the components out of the shell and rebuilt and cannot see any physical signs of a voltage burn out and Dell are no help because it is a 7 year old server.
Server does not power up. As soon as fans start to power up the whole power cuts out. I can't see anything in the forums and have run out of ideas.

Failsafe usually indicates an uncontrolled electrical failure in the hardware, somewhere in the chain of power - power supply, distribution board, motherboard, backplane. If you have gutted it and reassembled making sure everything is securely connected, then replacing parts is the only way to find the culprit. A short in the board/chassis itself can also cause it. If under warranty, Dell's policy would be to replace all the above hardware.
"Dell are no help because it is a 7 year old server"
In the US, Dell will assist in troubleshooting issues for free, as long as the system shipped before 11/2009.

Sheltd,
Normally this is indicative of a failure on the motherboard specifically, so be prepared for that outcome. I know you removed and reinstalled everything, but lets try taking the server to a Minimum to Post configuration. That's removing everything but the following:
System board
Processor (with heatsink) in socket 1
One stick of memory in slot 1
1 power supply
Control panel (to turn on system)
Sideplane
Both PCI risers in matching configuration
Now I have seen a voltage error occurring due to the server being plugged into a bad UPS port. So if you are plugging to a UPS try bypassing to known good power source.
If the system still doesn't recover from those steps then you can be fairly certain that the motherboard would need to be replaced. Flash stated the devices it could be, most reside on the motherboard.
Let me know how it goes.

Same error with the minimum components and I have tried using multiple power units to rule that the PSU. So order a motherboard it is then. Many many thanks for the advise on this one. Will let you know if a motherboard solves the issue.
