power edge 400sc help needed reference memory or different bios
Hi folks ok i have got 3 poweredge 400sc's i am trying to upgrade the memory from the stanard 256mb pc3200 ddr400 cl3 ecc type , according to dells system spec it should be able to take 1gb per slot ? I have tried the following
pc3200 ddr 400 ecc and not regonized by bios and getting error beep on boot either by its self or along with the standard memory
pc3200 ddr400 non ecc and not recognised by bios and beep error on boot and if used with the stanard memory no beep but not recognised inside bios
is there another bios i can flash it with ie a precision one using the forcetype flash ? that will allow it to use 1gb chips as it regognises 512mb fine
thanks in advance

Yeah i know that the memory tried was ibm ecc and crucial non ecc , both work fine in a dimension 8300 and both are brand new modules
so not like its cheap memory from japan

Any old memory from Any old vendor isn't going to work.
Memory Density is especially critical with many chipsets not supporting high density ram.

If I remember correctly I put 4 x 512MB Corsair value memory (non-ECC) in my PE400SC and it worked fine for years (probably still does, but I haven't used that PC in a while).
