first, remove power to the system. Second, reseat all cards and riser cards. While the error message is about the nic, this is almost always a riser or expansion card issue. If you have any cards in the system, remove them. If possible, swap the riser and/or cards with a known good to see if the problem follows the part. This is rarely the system board.
