PowerEdge 2950 server upgrade replacement

Good day.

I am Edward Kandjii from Windhoek, Namibia. I work with the Caprivi Link HVDC, here in Namibia, which was installed and commssioned 2010 by ABB Sweden. We are currently using the PowerEdge 2950 servers. We have a few that are faulty now, since they are absolute, can you please advise on the best replacement currently available.

Oh 2950 .... i seen a view in our basement waiting to go to the scrap metal yard.

After the 2950 there was R710, than R720, than R730, than R740 and last year they introduced the 15Gen. Dell Server named R750. Each generation have a period of time from  around ~4 years and than the next one comes to the market.

To answer your question... if you would like to buy new Dell PowerEdge servers than you should go with the 15Gen. Modells like the R750 (2U, 2 Sockets) or the previous generation named R740. I expect that these go end of sale within the next view month. It was the global pandemic that these servers got a longer sales cycle than mormal.

Every new Server comes with up to 7 years of support if you like.

Regards,
Joerg
