PowerEdge R710- w1228 raid controller battery less than 24 hours

Hi,

I was just wondering about the urgency of changing this battery? I mean, as long as there's no loss of power or if it needs to be cleanly shut down, is there any impact? What does the less the 24 hours represent?

Thks in advance

Hello.

The controller battery is used to sustain data cache and in event of power failure with a bad battery, there is a high risk of corrupting data. However, graceful shutdown of the server does not affect the data. Review the controller to be sure that the battery is not a learn cycle. This alert may sometimes be triggered by out of data firmware. Ensure that the controller firmware is up to date. Otherwise, you may simply replace the battery.

What does the less the 24 hours represent?

This means that battery will lose its charge and hence go bad within less than 24 hours

Thank you for the quick reply. When you say"  battery will lose its charge and hence go bad within less than 24 hours", do you mean when there's a power outage?

A battery goes bad after it has lost its charge. That alert indicated that the battery would go bad in less than 24 hrs even without power outage.
