Poweredge T105 Memory Upgrade

I have 2GB = 2 x 1GB ECC memory PC2-6400 @ 800 MHz.

Want to double the memory to 4GB = 4 x 1GB ECC memory PC2-6400 @ 800 MHz.

Will the combined memory work at 800 MHz e.g. like PC2-6400 or will the speed be downgraded to PC2-5300 @ 667 MHz?

If all of your dimms are @ 800 MHz, you'll retain that speed. It will not degrade if you add more memory to the system.

Thanks - would adding a pair of 667MHz parts lower the performance of all memory access or just for this pair?  Can a single module be added? e.g. 2 + 1.

Reason I ask is I bought system with 1 x 512MB @667 MHz and pulled this to add 2 x 1GB @ 800MHz.

I could add 1 x 512MB, get a second 512MB and add this, or as before buy 2x 1GB.

I also have some non-ECC 1GB memory but I'm told this won't work?

With this box, you have to install the memory in pairs. Having lower speed ram will not bring the other sticks down to it's level because of the fact that the memory has it's own bank, hence why it needs to be isntalled in indentical pairs. :)
