PowerEdge T110 Memory Difficulties
I'm having a hard time adding memory to my PowerEdge T110. I'm trying to go from 4GB to 16 GB.
I am using 4 x Crucial
CT1028356
CT51272BA1339
4GB, 240-pin DIMM Upgrade for a Dell PowerEdge T110 System
DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.5V • 512Meg x 72 • Part #: CT1028356
Each one of the above works fine in DIMM1 for 4 GB, naturally. When I insert them all, the system disables half of it, and I get the following error message
MEMORY Initialization Warning: Memory Size May be Reduced
MEMBIST failure – The following DIMM has been disabled by Bios: DIMM A2
MEMBIST failure – The following DIMM has been disabled by Bios: DIMM A4
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator shows:
Total Installed Capacity: 16384 MB
Total Installed Capacity Available to OS: 8192 MB
Under Details for Memory Array 1, all four DIMMs show the following:
Status: OK
Size: 4096 MB
Type DDR3-UnRegistered
Speed: 0.75 ns
Failures: None
I have spent hours swapping DIMMs in and out without any luck. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks much in advance.

Just a thought ... the docs mention nothing about quad-rank (4R) DIMM's, and some 4GB DIMM's are quad-rank. The Crucial site says nothing about the rank of those DIMM's, but maybe having one in hand you'd be able to tell.
