PowerEdge T320 Chassis Modding

To whom is may concern. I currently am in the middle of Retrofitting a Dell T320 16 Bay 2.5 Chassis with the backplane to the standard ATX Power format including take a Dremel to the Back where the Redundant Power Supply Slots in order to fit a Standard Consumer PSU. Currently Working on fitting a Ryzen Consumer Motherboard with a 8 Core 16 Thread Ryzen 3700X with about 128GB of RAM and a Areca ARC 1680IX-24 Raid Card. I really like the design of the back plane with the Multi Hot-Swap Drive Bays and I plan to Populate with a Variety of Raids for "Developmental Purposes" and Easy Data Salvaging. With the Exception of the I2C Connector coming from the backplane which I believe can be passthrough anyway I am wondering if it's possible to have a wiring Diagram for the Backplane 12Pin ATX to Either Dual 6 Pin or Dual 8 pin.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I would not be able to help much on this. It's nice to know that you're trying to reuse poweredge tower chassis.

I'll have to leave this to the public users to see if they are able to provide any information.

Managed To Hammer out the Harness for the Redundant PSU. However that backplane Power Cable is a Problem. If anyone has a Solution or Information/Diagrams wiring off all 12 pins please feel free to share.

If a Dell Design/Schematics Engineer can give me more information about the voltages required to power the backplane.IMG_20200711_132639.jpg

Hi,

Unfortunately, this information is not available to us, I can't help you.
Maybe you can measure it with the help of a voltmeter?

Best regards,
Stefan

C'est du 12 volts, mais le problème réside a faire démarrer la partie alimentation qui est sur la carte commandé certainement par le câble connecteur I2C_COMM

Hi was wondering if you ever figured this out. I took the plunge today and took a saw to the back and retrofitted a standard PSU into the case. Everything works great minus the backplane want to confirm that running the 12v from pcie will work before I take the plunge and do so. Am thinking I may get some 8pin extensions and using the BP connector I cut off my PDU to get this going. But I'm not sure what the grey and white cables do. Any help would be appreciated thanks for your time
