Hello

Press F11 during boot and choose your boot mode. In the boot manager the USB device should be listed as a hard drive. If you do not see the USB device then it is likely one of these possible issues.

  • Your USB device may not be formatted correctly or compatible. FAT32 is the best file system to use.
  • The device many not be enabled in the boot device menu. Review the boot order and make sure it is enabled.
  • You may not have created the image correctly. You need to use some type of USB imaging tool to properly copy an image file and make it bootable. Test the drive on another system to see if it is bootable.
  • Make sure the USB port you are using is enabled in the BIOS.

Thanks

Is there no way to get the T320 to boot unattended from a USB Drive?

I'm using an OS (Unraid) that loads from the USB, the OS does not write any data to the installed hard drives, and runs entirely (and only) from the USB. If the system reboots for any reason, I would like to automatically reboot using the USB as the boot device. I don't see any BIOS settings that would enable the USB as the primary boot device.

Is that on the roadmap for BIOS updates?

Thank you.

Hello,

I believe you should be able to repeatedly boot the server to a USB as-is. I can't speak to Unraid at all, but you should be able to delete all the other boot options from the boot order and add the USB boot option in. This would be from the F2 menu, then Boot Settings. There's a checklist there where you should be able to add or remove boot options.
