Poweredge T610 Memory MEMBIST Failures

Hi.

Looking for help & guidance.

Powered up my Dell PowerEdge T610 this afternoon & memory errors spooled out on the monitor.

The server has been working perfectly for the past 18 months, powered off each evening & powered back on each morning

The server has 2 x 5660 CPU's & all 12 DIMM slots are populated with Hynix 16GB 500207-071 DDR3 PC3 PC3-8500R Server RAM.

All 6 DIMM from A1 through to A6 have been disabled by BIOS

Error - "Unsupported configuration: DIMM configuration on each CPU should match."

I have cleared the errors, removed & replaced the modules and followed all the recommendations in the Dell community.

Where I had 192Gb available I now have only 96Gb

Any help would be very welcome.

Thanks,
Bal

Hi, thanks for choosing Dell. I'm afraid you can't use 16GB RAMs with your model.

Please see this.

Thank you for your reply.

However, I have been using the 16Gb RDIMMs since I bought the server over 2 years ago.

Currently shows 96Gb, last week & since I bought the server it was always showing the full 192Gb

Hello sandhub,

It is probably only showing half the memory because the entire A side is disabled.

It looks like there is a failed DIMM but you need to troubleshoot to find out which one.

Action plan:

Check BIOS Memory Mode setting Optimized not Mirroring

Make sure BIOS is up to date: Current version 6.6.0

To test memory:

Remove all memory and install a little at a time.

Test after each addition:

A1 & B1

A2 & B2

A3 & B3

A4 & B4

A5 & B5

A6 & B6
