Poweredge T620 cannot find boot drive.....

Hi folks,  I have this server that was shut down abruptly and now when it is powered up it does the “ preparing automatic repair....”  loading files” routine.  when it gets past that annoyance, it asks to select keyboard layout, and after that none of the troubleshooting options provide a way to boot. The only option that does work is Shut Down. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to boot? Thanks very much.

Hi Chris, thanks for your response.

Yes this is running Server 2012 Essentials, and I may be making some progress.

By pressing F8 during the power up I was able to choose safe mode with Networking.  This is now allowing me to  backup the data.

Once i have the data I will re-image the box with a snap I took some time ago.  Since the original issue was malware i want to wipe it anyway.

In the meantime, when i finish grabbing the data, I will try the bcdedit /set {current} recoveryenabled No

I will repost how that goes.

Thank you for your help!

MrMun,

Could you clarify the specific OS you are working with? I ask because if it is Server 2012, then you can try booting to the OS media, then go to a command prompt and run

bcdedit /set {current} recoveryenabled No

Once you run that see if you are able to boot to the OS.

Did anything change with the servers hardware, or have you run any updates, before this started

Let me know.
