Problem getting IDRAC6 Enterprise Virtual Console to work

I'm sure I am making some sort of rookie mistake here, but after a few rounds of updates and research around the web I'm stumped... I'm setting up a IDRAC6 Enterprise (installed in a DELL R710), I can log into the controller and most everything in the GUI works fine (reboot, system status, LCD setting, etc.), but I can't get the virtual console and virtual media working.

Each time I load the Virtual Console it throws a "Connection failed" error shortly after loading the Java application, though the preview image does update. The IDRAC is running the latest firmware (2.85) and Lifecycle controller firmware 1.7.5.4. I'm connecting to the server on the same network segment with no firewall or router between the server and the system I'm attempting to log on from.

Has anyone seen this behavior or could offer suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks,

Sean

Hello

You should review the release notes of the iDRAC firmware you are running. It will list compatible Java and browser versions. You may also need to add security exceptions. If you are using an unsupported browser then there may be additional configuration to make it work.

Thanks

I'm continuing to have the same problem, my latest attempt was with IE 11 in IE10 compatibility Mode  on Windows 7 64 bit which is listed as supported.

Did you follow the rest of the instructions in the document?

In addition, you must add the iDRAC6 Web URL to the Intranet security zone only. Also, this zone settings must be Medium-Low or lesser, for the control to function properly.

The connection is failing with the console because either security is blocking it or the software/method being used to connect is not compatible. Review the release notes to make sure you are using a supported method for connection. If you are using a supported method then follow the instructions regarding security in the release notes. You may need to add the console URL to more exception lists than are listed in the release notes. For instance, you may need to add the URL to the Java exception list.

Thanks
