Problem updating LifeCycle Controller 12G PowerEdge R720
I have a problem with updating the Dell "iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller V. 2.63.60.61" package.
Current LifeCycle Controller version is still 1.0 so there is no "HTTPS" option to try to automatically update the LCC.
What I have done so far:
1) Enter the Service Tag on the Dell Support site and under downloaded the file "iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller V. 2.63.60.61". Tried to install both Windows versions of the file as well as the RedHat version of it.
To do this I installed both Windows and RedHat on the Dell R720. (Separate and clean installs)
2) The error message I receive is that the package is not valid for the current system. I receive this message both on the Windows version (.exe) as well as with RedHat version (.bin) of the files.
3) Trying to download the Dell EMC Repository Manager v3 but the R720 isn't listed in the supported Servers section.
Is there any way to to get the correct update package for the LCC of this Server?
I tried to manually update the BIOS from v2.5.4. to v2.7.0 which succeeded without any problems.
When more information is necessary please let me know so I can provide that.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance.

Try it through OMSA(offline) and then check if the packages you are downloading are associated with the Server I am sure you have verified it but again be double sure and proceed step by step.
1 version can be skipped for upgrading.

Ok, thanks for the info!
Will try to do that when I got home.
So, basically, since I'm on firmware v1.57.57 I first need to upgrade to the next version?
(Which is I believe v2.10.10.10)
I will post an update when I have tried this.

Hmmm... Things still doesn't seem to work as they should...

I have tried to setup iDRAC correct with the correct IP Address. (172.16.1.200 in my example)
When I boot the Server up, and wait a few minutes to let the iDRAC interface start up, I get the following error message when I open my Chrome browser and try to login by typing in the iDRAC local address:
Then, I'm going to try to login through the OMSA:

I have setup my username and password in the iDRAC Setup (BIOS) but I can't seem to login.
Also, I have tried to factory reset the iDRAC and put in the IP Address and user login credentials but that doesn't help either.
Any thoughts on this issue??

Hi @DELL-Young E ,
Thanks for the info and the link, but unfortunately it didn't see the Flash Card despite I had enable it in the BIOS settings.
Since I did get something back but with an error about the certificate, and with the note that it was one of the first firmware versions of the iDRAC, I thought maybe the new internet browser was the cause of the connection error.
So here is the solution I have found and have now succesfully updated the iDRAC and LCC to the latest 12G Platform software and can connect to it normally.
1) I created a bootable USB stick with WindowsXP on it. (Hiren's Boot CD)
2) Put the bootable USB in my laptop to boot into a live vesrion of WindowsXP and anabled the network portion of it.
3) Opened up the old Internet Explorer that came with this Live USB and connected to the local IP address of the iDRAC.
4) now, it did connect successfully to the iDRAC and I could logon with the user credentials I setup manually, directly on the Server.
5) Once logged on to the LCC, I could browse to the update section and located the firmimg.d7 file to load.
6) After upgrading to the current version, I removed the WindowsXP Live USB and booted my laptop normally in Windows10. Conencted with the Chrome browser to the local IP address of the iDARC and could made the connection!
