Problem with IPMI over lan / "no reponse"

Hi, I`m trying to set up IPMI for my PE860.

 

I've connected my PE860 over eth0 (upper ethernet-port) with a second server over a crossed patch-cable.

 

The PE860 has the IP 10.0.0.10 // 255.255.255.0 and the second server (10.0.0.11) is able to ping it

 

I've set up IPMI as following:

 

IPMI over lan: on

IPMI lan channel: static/10.0.0.10/255.255.255.0 /vlan: off

Admin Account:enable

Admin account: root

enter password: *****

confirm password ****

 

(if I enter the User Confirmation dialog, the password/confirm-fileds are always empty)

 

esc to change, save on exit

 

so trying to reach the pe860 via ipmitool:

 

ipmitool -I lan -H 10.0.0.10 -U root -P **** chassis power status

 

gives:

 

"no response"

 

what could be wrong?
