R620 PSU Inventory Problems
Hello all:
I have a R620 with 2 750W PSUs. It arrived with one Delta and one Emmerson 750W PSU installed. All was working fine for about a year. Then all of the sudden, the orange info screen on the front was lit with a PSU compatability problem, and PSU 2's green light blinking. My workload on the server (camera NVR software) was about 40% load, now was 99% and not working right.
I spent several hours working on this...updated the FW of the #2 PSU (Delta), no change. I pulled up the inventory in the lifecycle controller and noticed that PSU#1 was reporting 0W / 0V and had no FW version or part number, but PSU#2 showed everything correctly. So I shut down the server and swapped the PSUs. On boot, the PSU in slot#2 showed all data correctly, and slot #1 still showed 0W and no PN/FW Version info. The PSU light was blinking green, and the system still complained about both a PSU configuration error and insufficient power.
If I ran a PSU in only slot 2 (either PSU), it all worked normally and happily. In fact, if I ran a single PSU in slot 1, it showed 0W, etc., but worked happily still! (usually did NOT through insufficient power error).
To me, this appears to be something wrong with whatever component is responsible for talking to the PSUs. What component is that? Is this something that a FW update of something else will likely fix?
Has anyone ever seen this before?
Thanks!

Hi, from here
http://dell.to/3W4Y1Li
and if you could search with keyword "750W" and you will see 5 PSU firmwares. You might want to try them.

Apart from PSU can you also update iDRAC and BIOS to latest version and check the behavior? Can you also check the PSU redundancy status in iDRAC and check what mode it is configured?

Hi sorry I already did that. The firm wears of the PSUs are up to date but that doesn't make a difference.

How about we swap the place for Delta and Emmerson? That we we might know if the issue lies on the PSU or behind it (the slot and the etc...)
